I think we always knew that sugar was the root of all evil.

As a teenager I was the type who was probably thin on the outside and fat on the inside. I could eat whatever I wanted to without gaining weight and would often skip a meal in favour of a few chocolate biscuits . Vegetables were a no go area for me although I would eat fruit. Nowadays my diet it packed with fruit and vegetabkes, no alcohol (never did drink) and I walk for miles; when my lungs allow.

My question is, did my excess sugar intake in my youth cause my fatty liver disease or was it the medications I take for various other conditions, or indeed the conditions themselves?

Can we really put all the blame onto sugar?
