diagnosed with fatty liver but I'm not fat at all

Hello all. I'm very scared and desperate. my blood tests constantly shows elevated alt and ggt. after ultrasound doctor said I have fatty liver but I am not fat. I'm 72 kg and 176cm height male. He doesn't seem concerned and after checking my medical records for 6 years I realized that I have this (as far as I find) for 6 years and none of the doctors told me anything about it. So I think I've developed more serious form of this disease. I searched on the internet for advices but they all say loose weight but this is not my case, you can count my bones already. What should I do? my doctor is a gastroentrologist and he recommends exercise nothing more. I feel like I'm going to die soon so I can't concentrate to my work or social life. thank you.

Hi Esmeraldo

Some lean people do develop the problem so you are not alone. The best advice I can give you is to see a liver specialist. Primary care and most gastro docs are not trained in liver disease. There are a number of diseases besides just obesity and they can be hard to diagnose so find a liver specialist as soon as possible.

I understand how you feel. I am a lean individual, asymptomatic, who has 'moderate to severe fatty liver'. However, get yourself a good liver Dr who can find out the underlying cause. Its not always related to carrying too much weight on your frame. While you are searching for your Dr and answers, try to ensure your diet contains lots of fresh fruit, fresh veg, salmon; limit salt , added sugars and alcohol .

You might ask to be tested for Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. It's just a blood test. Some people are liver affected, some lung affected. I'm both. Good luck

Hello

I understand,

Do you drink alcohol?

Have you been on any specific medication in the past?

There's lots of other reasons for fatty liver.

There are more people than you may think that are a good weight or underweight that have fatty liver.

I can't speak for others only what I know about the people I have meet and they all have desk jobs at computer and don't move much and snack on what they can as they are busy.

So you can still have a build up of fat in the liver even if you are a good weight or under.

I can only advise ALOT MORE fruit and vegetables AND MORE ACTIVITY as its said to not just burn general fat but also directly burn fat of your liver.

ALOT LESS CARBS AND SUGAR AS CARBOHYDRATES TURN IN TO SUGAR IN YOUR BODY ! FACT

Which can add to the fat thats in your liver.

Break a sweat if you are well enough to.

Nothing to loose in trying while you wait to see a (hepatologist) Liver specialist

ALSO THIS IS WHAT ALL HEPATOLOGIST'S WILL PROBABLY IN GENERAL RECOMMEND TO GO ALONG SIDE ANY TREATMENT'S

IF YOU DID NEED ANY.

Hi,😊

It is great until you realise the damage was being done somewhere else.

ANY movement is good for us.

Even if it's sitting in a chair and doing some light excersise. It will generally have a good impact on your liver .

Will also make you feel better about yourself knowing your doing something to help yourself in some way.

Hope this helps

😊
