Hmm what do Ido to have my body thinks it is in starving mode and thus then won’t lose weight? Or which video do I need to watch to answer this. I am a newbie. I have about two stone to lose.

Thanks!

Well what do I avoid to avoid the starving mode mechanism?

Hello Scythe welcome to F&F and here are a couple of posts that should help you get off to a good start as one is how to get your body into fat burning mode first plus our starter pack.

Good luck and if you start your fast with your body well nourished you will find it easier, so I'd eat healthily and have exercise so you use many tools to lose weight.

Do check our our topics as we have many relevant posts and you can use the search facility top right.

Jerry 😊

Hi, Scythe , welcome.

"Starvation mode" is reduction of your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) due to calorific restriction - you burn fewer calories so you lose less weight.

When Intermittent Fast (IF) we normally eat fewer calories, but IF stimulates the metabolism, so you can lose weight.

You might need to eat a bit more initially - but in a shorter "Eating Window".

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

My understanding is that calorie reduced (eg normal) weight loss diets can lead to starvation mode, but not eating and then eating (intermittent fasting) is normal for humans and doesn't. Studies show that BMR actually goes up when you start fasting.

The theory is that if there is no food, then your body gives you energy to go find some or you would die. If there is a little food, then your body adjusts to needing less while the "famine" goes on. That adjustment is long term, or possibly permanent.
