This is promising that IF can help reduce inflammation and possibly inflammation in the central nervous system so it could be a great aid and help delay the onset so obviously more research needs to be done but it shows that fasting has many health benefits and is not just a tool for weight loss.
Haha, Um... hmm.. I had a laugh at that about living forever, but then you made a good point, could we possibly extend our lives by fasting more? That's such an amazing question! I think it could so long as we eat the proper foods in between the fasts, to get the optimal nutrition, but there is the question of.. what is optimal nutrition? Some say a variety of foods, and I tend to agree, but not all foods are created equal, and I still don't think our scientists completely understand our bodies ability to heal itself through fasting and good diet, and which foods to avoid for a 'good diet'. Because there are conflicting food pyramids out there.
When I eat carbs and sugars, I feel inflammation take over my body. I get a stuffy nose, I get allergy symptoms, my joints ache, I get pain that feels like arthritis.
When I fast they go away.
When I fast and eat a diet without carbs and sugars, they stay away.
I believe my body is trying to tell me something. I'm listening. I think that's all we can do is listen to our bodies.
With fasting, you can get your body to a state of comfort, less pain over time, and some pains go away completely. Then, when you do eat foods, you can feel the next day how your body felt after having that food. If it doesn't feel good, stop eating that food... just listen to your body, that's all I can say.
But, extending life... yes, and quality of life improving (with less pain) is an amazing ideal way to start!
I have always loved alternative medicine and listening to the stories of how people in other societies heal their bodies through fasting. I'm so glad that's starting to take hold in the USA. I would much rather see people try simple things first before moving on to expensive and often dangerous prescription drugs. I love learning. Thanks for this post!
