Why is Intermittent fasting so popular BBC article.

Hi everyone.

Here's an article from the BBC about why IF is so popular, I found the part about insulin levels after fasting interested me as sugar spikes are important to all of us.

I think that it's great that IF is in the news and in a positive way.

Hi, Hidden .

As you say the article is positive - but, as I expected, they got most of it wrong.

They say that Intermittent Fasting works because of the calorie restriction - and Calorie restriction suppresses the metabolism, and IF stimulates it, burning more fat.

They say you need to eat grains, low-fat and starchy carbohydrate - and what works best for most of us is LCHF.

They think that Intermittent Fasting is all about losing weight - when it prevents or alleviates so many of today's diseases.

I think S11m, they are just focussing on one aspect of fasting and the most popular aspect of the moment...

I don't get this Why is the 16:8 fasting (eating within an 8 hour window) seen by some as a new thing? Isn't this just skipping a morning breakfast?

This is my usual way of eating. My husband has one meal a day and no snacks and neither of us see what we do as anything unusual.

I normally eat baked potato with salad and some chicken or egg around noon then later I might have a bowl of soup and maybe some yogurt and fruit.

I don't get the munchies nor have cravings for snacks.

Not what you're looking for?
