Bed wetting regression on desmopressin

Hi, I have a 10year old son who has been on desmopressin for the last 2 years. We have had great success with it right from the start, he went from wetting every night to only very occasionally, generally when he was worried about something happening the next day. From March to September he even managed to stop taking them .When he returned to school he started regularly wetting again, we restarted the desmopressin again but found 1 tablet was no longer effective so increased him to 2 which helped. The last month even that isn't working and he has wet the bed every night for the last month.

We are still following the good pre night time practises, last drink at dinner time, at least 2 sit down toilets before bed.

Sadly he is due to go on a 2 night residen.tial in may with school which we need to sign up on when school restarts.

As he is at the mo I don't think he'll want to go as he'll be too embarrassed.

I know he could sneak on a pull up at night, but we are struggling to find a brand that doesn't leak.

I have requested a prescription review with my gp.

Any advise?

Hi, my 10yo managed a school residential trip with a waterproof sleeping bag liner from the ERIC shop. He was using sleep pants at the time but somehow forgot to wear them 🙄 but the liner kept everything dry. Hope your son manages to go on the trip!

Try revisiting the bedwetting advice sheet to ensure you are covering all areas: eric.org.uk/advice-for-chil... For example, looking at the bowels can help. Vasopressin is a fluctuating hormone so anxiety may affect levels in some children. It can also help to record a diary to see if their is any related patterns to the events such as late bedtime, after school clubs, different fluids, different activities in the day etc.
