day 4 disimpaction of 8 yr old

just prompted my daughter to sit on the loo and try to go. all that came out was a mushy blob of poo stuck to her bum which I had to wipe away. yesterday we had lots of soiling and some small blobs of mushy poo which dropped into the loo. I was expecting a major evacuation of the bowels but this doesn’t seem to be happening. I’m worried. I wish I knew how long this would take. I feel like she will never go back to normal. Up until a week or so ago she was off Cosmocol and passing a stool everyday. Now here we are…full blown relapse

What made you start the disimpaction? Day 4 is still very early on in the process. If after two weeks things aren't moving as you would like you can add a stimulant to the regime. How much are they drinking on top of the laxatives? Fluids are key in the process.

we had a breakthrough yesterday and are onto type 7 stools. There’s conflicting advice around the maintenance dose though. ERIC advises 2-4 sachets but elsewhere I’ve read you should reduce down gradually. She got up to 10 sachets to get to type 7 stools. Any ideas anyone?

Keep going and in my personal experience reducing down slowly by one sachet once you have reached disimpaction is much better and far more successful in determining the true maintenance dose.
