How long on maintenance dose have people expienced stools forming and not going so frequently? My 2 year old is still doing about 10 poos a day, like porridge. We are only on day 4 of maintenance on 4 laxido sachets. Is this normal quantities at this stage?

Yes last week, so completed disimpaction as per guidance up to 8 sachets. Was very watery for 2 days then went to highest maintenance dose of 4 sachets
Did you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days before you started reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one dose every few days until you reached a suitable maintenance dose to remain on? If not it sounds like you did not disimpact fully.
All the guidance i have read and spoke to ERIC helpline say once disimpact has reached for a few days, (which it was extremely waterery for at least 3 days) then go onto maximum maintenance dose and thats what i did. I find all the guidance is very contradicting as to what to do when disimpaction is reached.
Really it's best to go slowly especially when reducing the doses down. Watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days is definitely going to help.
Why is there no guidance from disimpaction dose to maintenance dose? Are you meant to reduce down until the maximum maintenance dose is achieved? Its so confusing
Ideally you stay at the maximum dose until you reach watery stools with no lumps consistently for a few days before you start reducing the doses down extremely. It's not something you can rush and it's likely you haven't fully disimpacted.
Yes and then for a few days before you start reducing the doses down extremely slowly ie one dose every few days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.
I havent been told or read anywhere that from the very watery stools, did you have to reduce gradually until you react maximum maintenance dose.
Anyway, I'll just need to continue on the maximum maintenance dose and see how it goes. Stool has went from a 7 to a 6 in the last day so hopefully will keep forming.
Yes because the maintenance dose is unique to the individual, some need 4, some far less that's why it's important to do it slowly, also prevents the bowel going into shock. Join movicol mummies on Facebook you will get a wealth of information there on this.
I will do thank you. I plan to stay on 4 for at least a week and see how the stool is. I do plan to do this reduction part very slowly to see the impact.
