Hi, I've just started the disempactment regime on my two daughters (4&5) they are currently on day 3 and had our first little accident this morning. Can anyone let me know what time of day it's better to give the movicol? How long it takes after they have it so they need the toilet or is it different with every child? They are still at school / Pre-School and have been ok so far but obviously worried it will get worse before it gets better. Thanks

It doesn't matter what time you give it, movicol doesn't work like that.

Dear erog84 ,
Macrogol laxatives (movicol, laxido and cosmocol) don't have a timed effect so it doesn't matter what time of the day you give them. They also don't have to be given all at once. See our eric.org.uk/how-to-use-macr... factsheet . Just be sure you are mixing them correctly. Unlike macrogol laxatives, stimulant laxatives do have a timed effect and take 8-12 hours to work. @ERIC
