Suppositories or laxative for disimpaction?

My 3 year old has been on laxido for about 18 months, only pooing at night and has also recently started withholding her wee even whilst wearing a nappy, attempted potty training which was inevitably a disaster! ERIC advised us to consider a disimpaction routine as she may still be constipated and this could also be affecting her bladder. Phoned the GP to discuss this and I'm not sure he entirely understood the situation but was keen for us to try using suppositories first and talked about cycling through suppositories, laxative and stimulant laxative at which point my brain exploded! We've been given suppositories before and it was just really distressing for my daughter trying to insert them so we gave up. So i feel a bit confused as to what to do next, go ahead with disimpaction or try suppositories again? We've had her on 2 sachets of Laxido a day for the last week and she is pooing every night now, she is happier but still withholding wee and she rocks on her hands and kness for comfort throughout the day.

Thanks

disimpact with osmotic laxatives such as movicol and add a stimulant to the regime to help with the withholding behaviour.

If this is still an issue - for what its worth, I would have recommended instead combining stimulant laxative with suppositories. Because they almost never have any side-effects, and work quicker, and because speaking from experience kids may need the "trauma" of suppository insertion to motivate them to stop the self-constipating behaviour! Also, the urinary problems tend to disappear when (a) they've finally accepted the potty/toilet, and (b) any constipation issues are under control. And (a) and (b) tend to coincide.
