Overnight products for teens?

Morning all, really hoping I can get some advice regarding overnight products for my sons wetting problems. He is 12, and quite big for his age, he was wearing Abri-form S2, which we were prescribed, but he’s outgrown them and they have been consistently leaking, soaking his bed and bedding, and it has given him red, sore skin. I tried to get the prescription changed, but they don’t have an appointment until October and that’s apparently the only way it can be changed.

So I went online and bought some pull up style which are much more practical and means he can manage them himself better, Abri-flex M2. Size wise they are much better, and we’re ok for the first few nights, but now have started to leak too. Even with bed pads and a waterproof sheet his mattress is still often wet, and he loves to sleep with lots of comfort blankets and cuddly toys, so it’s not even just his bedding being affected anymore.

I was hoping someone would have some suggestions of possible different products that might be better suited to such a heavy level of wetting, before I have to spend even more money trying them out, and also better bed/bedding protection?

Thanks for reading :)

Have you tried these? I've no idea if they hold a lot of urine, but I'm guessing you could also add pads inside them. My son uses them for his sons soiling troubles. Tesco/ Morrison sell them. Full price they are about £5.25, but often they are on a special offer.

Thank you for your reply, sadly my son grew out of those quite a few years ago now. It would make life so much easier if he did though.

The only other thing I can think of is ny mother-in-law gets really heavy duty pads on prescription as she is totally incontinent. Maybe there are different ones you can ask you gp incontinence clinic for . Have you discussed it with them? Duno if they are giving you child size ones because of his age.

I'm guessing if you have them on prescription then they're heavier duty than the supermarket pants? We also use the Dry Nites for my 11 yr old but in combo these: completecareshop.co.uk/dail...

They work brilliantly and stay dry even when peed on so if he does leak we can get away with less of a total bed change and disruption. May not work for you with all the cuddlies and blankets but worth considering.

Does his sleep position make things better/worse? If my son sleeps on his front he's guaranteed to leak, for eg. Just wondering why they were ok for first few nights but then started leaking again?

Have you tried him on desmopressin to reduce the volume he's peeing?

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply :) His prescription is for Abriform which I think are heavier duty, their website doesn’t offer much in the way of help to their sizing etc.

I have been using bed pads, but those you’ve shared look much heavier quality so I’ll give them a try thanks!

Also, I hadn’t even thought about his position, that’s a really good point, I will have a look at that.

The nurse won’t give us desmopressin, he recently was unable to go through woth a bladder scan due to some new and very difficult anxieties he’s developed, and she told us they can’t help us anymore without that :(

The Abriform's work well for use we get them from mail order, esp if he is wetting more than once per night. I'm not sure what country your in so it's hard to recommend diapers for him since the reins no pullup in adult sizes that Mandela with night wertting

You should try ID slip maxi prime, they are far more absorbent than anything else mentioned here. There probably the best night time nappy I've found.
