Hi, son is 7 was going to clinic to help bed wetting became dry for a few months then regressed back to wetting. Seems to be regressing more at the moment with going twice a night. I’ve resulted back to pull ups as 18 months of changing a wet bed with no improvement is exhausting!! Any one else been in the same situation and can offer advice? Medication didn’t work (he had lyrinel xl), and we are using an alarm alongside a pull up currently but i just feel it’s getting worse!

Constipation - the guilty culprit until proved otherwise. Also how much does he drink during the day and what does he drink? Get him to double void twice before bed ensuring the bladder is completely empty.

He is very regular and it’s completely normal. I’m not sure how to tell he’s constipated other than that though? He drinks 6 200ml glasses of water sometimes orange squash throughout day as recommended by clinic. He goes to toilet 7.30, 8 and then 8.30 then goes to sleep.

For me it’s just strange that he got dry then regressed back then got worse again to twice when I’m following all the same things they told me to.

I would up the liquid a bit more, avoid the orange as it's an irritant to the bladder. The best way to tell if they are constipated is to assume they are and treat accordingly. Often we think they are regular and all looks good when actually they are completely full of stools. The Eric website has methods on how to treat this. Regression is common with constipation and wetting.

Oh the clinic said orange would be fine it’s just black currant? He only has it at meal times anyway. Thank you I’ll look into constipation!

It's quite common for boys to start bedwetting again around that age, although normally that's after a longer period of being dry. What did the clinic do to help him? Is there anything you could think of that might have changed his sleep patterns and caused the wetting to start again?

Probably best just to stop using the alarm and stick with pullups for a while, he will get dry in his own time, no point getting yourself stressed out X.

The clinic gave him the alarm and the medication, just generally monitored it. He became dry with the occasional wet night so they discharged him but within weeks he completely went back and hasn’t got any better since. Sleeping patterns the same as before, since it’s become more than once a night though it’s been the school holidays and he’s been going to bed slightly later so I put it down to that maybe. We’ve ditched the alarm for now and just using pull-ups so both me and him and getting a full night sleep for a little while resulting in both being happier! No pressure then is there! Thank you!
