13 YO with nocturnal enuresis

My 13 year old son has nocturnal enuresis. He's never had a dry night in his life despite using various medications and alarms. A couple months ago he started sleeping through solid bowel movements after he had some sort of virus.

His mental health and friendships are affected because he is embarrassed and doesn't want anyone to know.

Anyone have similar experiences or suggestions?

Anyone have great experiences with doctors or clinics in New England?

Hi. We are having a similar experience to you. Our son, who is nearly 13, isn't dry at night. Been on medication for a few years which doesn't make a huge difference. He's a very deep sleeper and doesn't realise he is wet. Doesn't want to try an alarm. We are both exhausted lifting him several times through the night. Dr has suggested reading the book 'Stop bedwetting in seven days' by Alicia Eaton. Just starting reading it. I'm really hoping it helps. He's missing out on alot of things and just wants to be like the other kids 😔

Hi there my 12 year old son has this! Always has and we are now on a medication called LYRINEL XL 15mg and he is dry! We don’t know if he’ll ever be able to come off the meds but he’s dry 99% of the time and he also has some learning difficulties which are also improving. He’s happier and he is now leaving the house and socialising. Stay positive and I hope that his helps. You’ve got this

Soiling at night is known as nocturnal encopresis, my granddaughter had a phase of it, I couldn't get any medical answers as to why it started, or why it no longer happens regularly. It started quite suddenly, just after she turned 10, rather than pooing at breakfast time it was in her nappy when she woke up.

Most sources will say it's cause is constipation but she definitely wasn't constipated, it hasn't stopped completely but it's now happening very infrequently, but it upsets her when it does happen.

I couldn't get her any help from the nhs here, wherever you are in England might be different. The only thing I can suggest is having a good quality nappy for at night, especially if you son is a persistent bedwetter.

The pullups the supermarkets sell are useless for older children.
