Soiling at 13 years old

Hi everybody my son is 13 years old and is constantly soiling his pants all the time and goes to a gastric doctor for it and get no wear quick with soiling he is also on movicol and lots of other medicines for it

Hi there, my daughter is 11 and has suffered all of this for years. Over the last 6 months she has been prescribed peristeen by the consultant at the hospital . This is a colonic irrigation system which flushes out the bowel with water. It isnt a miracle cure but certainly helps,she hasnt had one poo accident at school this term ,which is amazing. Well worth a try.

He soils all the time at school and comes home with dirty pants done a poo in pants today

Disimpaction can take a month at this age, sometimes even longer. You often also have to disimpact multiple times if it’s a chronic problem. My son’s maintenance dose is 8 sachets movicol, 3 Senna tablets and 1 bisocodyl tablet and we still have to go up to 10/12 sachets regularly and prompt him to go to the toilet to try throughout the day. It’s the only way we have managed to completely stop the soiling.

Sorry - no solutions to offer but just wanted to let you know you aren’t as alone as you may feel.

My 13 year old has had problems all his life with this. We’ve just tried a disimpaction which we think we may be there with which has given some improvement but he’s still soiling and wetting - just less often. Hoping it’s just a matter of sticking with the ultra-high laxative doses for a while longer.
