My 4 year old daughter finished her disimpaction regime at the start of this week and I’m struggling to find a maintenence dose of Movicol.
The continence nurse said to keep trying different dosages to find the right one but she’s only had one sachet this morning and she’s still really loose.
I’m worried as she’s due to go back to school on Monday.
Any advice welcome. Thank you x

Did you get to rusty water looking poo before you started reducing the doses down, it's best once you have to reduce by 1 sachet every three days until you are getting type 4 stools on the Bristol stool chart, once you get that, that's your maintenance dose.
Did you get up to the maximum of 8 sachets and rusty water looking poo for a few days before you started reducing?it's best to go down by 8,8,8,7,7,7,6,6,6,5,5,5 and so on. It sounds like you have reduced too quickly.
I recently did disimpaction with my 8 yo. Then reduced down to one or two sachets a day plus fibre gummies which help him do 'normal' type poos instead of sticky or runny ones. As long as you're sure she got cleared out (got to watery poo stage) then maybe try only one or 2 sachets a day plus fibre as we have found this has really helped x
Thank you. I’m positive she’s been cleared out properly and there’s no accidents at all now between BM’s as the overflow was the biggest problem before.
I gave her 1 sachet again today like I did yesterday so I’ll see what today brings. The continence nurse said she can go down to 1/2 sachet if needed so I may try that after a few days.
I’ll definitely get some fibre tablets to try so thank you for that suggestion x
Good luck with it all, I did a bit of research and went for BeLive prebiotic fibre gummies off Amazon, not cheap but felt it was worth it. I also let his teacher know he needs access to the toilet at all times and I've recently bought pants for soiling from ERIC which are an option for school as they contain accidents until can be cleaned up. I'm hoping we're past the worst of it but good to have as back up to ease anxiety around accidents x
