Firstly I'm sorry for the amount of posts. Just really struggling, the GP is calling this afternoon and I'm struggling to get hold of Eric ...
my daughter started off with bad stomach cramps and the back of her mouth hurting around 4 weeks ago. AT that time she changed from movicol to laxido due to a manufacturer problem , Everytime she eats she gets stomach ache and gets upset, she says she feels poo. The doctor advised last week to do a disimpactation regime to which we did. I stopped when she got to light coloured pure liquid , there's been no change. I've been curious that the laxido could be giving the tummy aches and wind. She's been on movicol for years due to being scared of pooing. Recently she's done light coloured poo, I'm trying to find the right matience dose, I'm waiting for the GP to call today, as I'm so worried about these cramps and what's actually going on with her. I've gave no laxido at all today to see if it helps her tummy. She's just done a dark brown poo, with bits of sweetcorn in. I can't remember when I gave her that last. I'm so confused. If anyone has any help I'd be so grateful

I expect you didn’t fully disimpact her and she will need to have a full disimpaction this time. It’s unbelievable how much poo can come out sometimes!! The pain is usually related to the wind the laxatives cause. My son gets relief from bouncing on a gym ball or passing wind upside down!!
I think your possibly right, I never reached the brown poo I stopped doing the disimpactation on day 7 Because all that was coming was light liquid, almost like water. So I stopped, two days later she's passing dark brown smelly poo, not liquid not hard. I'm calling the GP back tomorrow, she's been off her food all day today only had bits and bobs. Really struggling on what to do now thanks so much for replying
Defo will try getting her a gym ball! The go prescribed an antacid but I'm worried dosing her up with more stuff along with the movicol will cause more issues
My son was prescribed omeprazole when picosulphate caused gastritis which did help.
In my experience the cosmocol pain has always been wind pain and it can be really painful and uncomfortable. It’s tricky coz movement helps but is also painful so hard sometimes to find the right balance. I do find gym ball invaluable because they kind of work out how they need to use it to provide relief. If it were me I would probably try another disimpaction and taper down very gradually at the end to find the right maintenance dose. You could discuss adding Senna with your GP as well. I do find it helpful to add a stimulant (my son takes bisocodyl and Senna stimulants)
Thank you, I took her to a&e today. He said this my choice with the omeprazole but if I use it I need to give it atleast a month too work. Thank you I agree, she was at a&e most the day , they where very friendly but when the doctor came he wasn't too sure, he could feel an impaction on one of her sides at the top, he had a chat with her. Didn't suggest much. I suggested doing another disimpactation and he said it won't do any harm. I don't think there's much they or he could do as she's generally well in herself, aparrt from this tummy situation. Still playing ect. She's been on a maintenance dose of 3 sachets the last two days and passed two small bits of sludy dark brown poo. I've come home and gave her 6 sachets and she's allready passed a large amount of very loose light coloured. What should I expect with a disimpactation, when I did it last week it was just liquid no hard bits at all. So confused. Thanks for listening
There is a poster on here who has said the following about disimpaction-

Essentially you need to stay on the maximum dose until you get poo that looks like rusty water, once you do stay there for 3 consecutive days before you start to reduce the dose very very slowly i.e. 12,12,12,11,11,11,10,10,10 and so on until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to remain on.
I think this is such good advice!!
I’m not sure how old your daughter is and whether she can go up to 12 sachets. But if she can I agree with the advice above to be sure she’s fully disimpacted and you find the right maintenance dose. It’s a very messy process and they usually less interested in eating but worth knowing you have properly cleared them out. Also sometimes you have to disimpact again a few weeks/months later. Some people do it every school holiday!
Thank you that sounds brilliant, thank you. She's 41/2 , the max is 8 sachets , tomorrow I'll do another 6 then the day after 8. Thank you, I'm re assures knowing it can do no harm to her aslong as she's hydrated. I've had two nappies of loose today but not the dark rusty colour. I'll keep going until we've reached that. Thank you. It seems there's more knowledge on here than anywhere
