I wondered if anyone had any advice or similar experience?
My 10yr old daughter is now on day 22 of vomiting. After a trip to GP diagnosed constipation. Given Movicol to start in doses up to 12. Tomorrow is day 15 of Movicol. She has passed some sort of poo everyday but never this disimpaction I don’t think that GP told us about. Today still plenty of poo. The thing that is really worrying me is the relentless nausea & vomiting. I had hoped as she was having lots of poos that things were moving & the vomiting would cease. She also had an enema 3 days ago.
I guess my questions are:
1) what’s the longest disimpaction might take?
2) have others experienced such prolonged vomiting (10 times + a day)?
Thank you for your time 😊

I would be concerned about dehydration with that much vomiting. If it were me I would go back to the GP and express your concern. She might need an x Ray to find out if she is impacted. How is she in herself?
My son is also 10 years old, he was vomiting for 11 days constantly due to constipation. He still feels nausea but stopped vomiting. He has been on laxatives since about the last week of October. He still has the constipation but it is almost clear now.
Thank you. Yes I do hope that it clears up. I cannot believe how awful it is & I had no idea she was so constipated. She still went to the loo regularly & ate & drank very well etc. lots of exercise. Will you keep him on laxatives long term? 😊
Same with us, it's been terrible. He is constantly complaining that his tummy is burning. Hopefully I won't have to keep him on laxatives long term but I will see how he goes. He had an x-ray when this first started which showed he was totally blocked, but last week at the hospital the doctor said that it had cleared alot and it just needed a little bit more. He is taking sennakot at the moment which has helped unblock him alot more. 😊
Disimpaction is when her poo is like water no lumps or anything my daughter is 4 tomorrow and she has had 3 disimpaction regimes in her 4 years of life but again has also suffered severe constipation and vomiting from the age of 6 days old x
The vomiting does subside once disimpaction is complete but it takes time I wouldn’t bother counting the days anymore as that to me prolongs you’re waiting time but I do hope she gets better x
What is she eating and can she keep anything down? It sounds like her intestines are so full with poop there is no where for food to go past the stomach so it comes back up.
I hope your daughter is okay. My daughter (17) had intractable vomiting this past summer following several months of nausea and unexplained weight loss. She was hospitalized & initially misdiagnosed with a a rare eating disorder (ARFID) - it was horrible. Long story short - it turns out she has Celiac and Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS). I think it was caused by a nasty gut bug, as I started having problems with nausea also, which then became a whole bunch of food allergies (I still need to see an allergist) and more typical allergy symptoms like rashes, itching, hives as well as eczema. She did not test positive on blood tests for food allergies - she had positive skin tests for birch, grass and mugwort allergies. She is now much better after eliminating gluten and avoiding foods on the OAS lists, she now only takes one or two zofran 4mg per day (in hospital she had been taking 3 Zofran per day as well as Ativan and Protonix). Unfortunately, she also has really bad 'adrenal fatigue' - which is more likely a problem with the hypothalamus, which controls level of allergic response. There's not much in mainstream medicine to help with HPA axis dysfunction (the new and better term for 'adrenal fatigue'). If your daughter's problems continue, please consider consulting with an allergist who is familiar with OAS and getting tested for Celiac.
