Does it need to be Movicol specifically? My son was always on Movicol but as it is prescribed by our GP as under its generic name of Macrogol, any brand can be given, so for the last couple of months the pharmacy have been giving us Laxido instead - same strength and ingredients. Working just as well.

Can’t you use laxido? I work in a pharmacy bit I’m off this week.. il try to find out a date for it coming back in. You could ask your doctor to prescribe the adult Movicol and adjust the dose to 3 a day xx

Thankyou ive been up to see my Dr this morning got to go back at 430 pm they can get hold of movelcol half so got to have that until it's all sorted apparently it's a manufacturer problem. on the movilcoil peadrictritan plain and flavour ones.laxido is the next brand to have for my lg.got to collect tomorrow morning as Dr got to sign the new precription.I have enough for tonight and the morning.

Laxido is quite a bit cheaper than Movicol so if the prescription doesn’t say Movicol, most pharmacy’s will give laxido. Iv personal found no difference between the two and for my daughter they have worked the same. But I did see a post on here saying Movicol worked better for their child. Often this happens with medication. We have a lot of customers with preferences for different brands. Xx

We're on cosmocol , another macragol. We get ours through boots and only ever have to wait a day for them to order in. Could your doctor's reception call around pharmacies to find you some?

I’d go back to your gp or phone them and perhaps they can prescribe a different brand.

Find a local pharmacy that is part of a chain (like Boots or Kamsons) and ask them to put out a request for it amongst their other branches who have some in stock - then it gets sent to your local one. Our local kamsons have done this for me before for a specific brand of overactive bladder drug I found worked better.
