My DD was prescribed movicol (1 sachet) 3 days ago and still hasn't been. She's started straining now but thats the only change I've seen. Today is day 10 without a proper bowel movment and shes clearly very distressed when trying. What can I do? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Shes breast fed, I give her about 5oz of water with her meals and she'll end up drinking about 3-4 oz of it throughout the day. I make up it up with about 65ml of squash as she won't drink it plain. I give it to her in spoonfuls in one sitting at about the same time every day. Thank you for your reply!
A combination of BLW and the occasional Ella's kitchen pouch. I give her fruit for 1 meal of the day (usually breakfast or lunch) then she usually eats what we eat. Spag bol, red lentil dhal, macaroni cheese, tagines (meat or veg), soups, stews. I do give her a baby biscottie and a few organic carrot or veg crisps with her lunch.
Ahh I didn't know weetabix was bad and I have just started introducing dairy with the mac and cheese. I'll knock these on the head for a while. Cheers.
Weetabix acts like cement in the bowel and dairy is a known contributory factor in constipation. Also take dairy out of your diet. I would also think about upping the dose of movicol to see if that gets things moving.
It sounds like she needs disimpacting, I'm not sure one sachet a day will be able to soften the old stool and get it moving. Call the doctor and ask for the dosage to be upped, prunes and syrup of figs helped my son at that age. Also dairy can often be a cause of constipation, both of my breastfed children were sensitive to dairy, although one a lot more than the other so might be worth taking that out of her and your own diet and seeing if it helps.
Right thank you, luckily she does like prunes very much so I often blend them and spread them on her toast. I will stop introducing her ti dairy straight away! Thank you.
