Hi all, thanks for reading.
My daughter has has issues with constipation and soiling from a few months after she got potty trained at 2.5 years
She was dry at both day and night. Around 6 months ago we managed to completely clear her impaction and were on a maintenance dose of 2 movicol a day which seemed to work perfectly, she was pooing daily on the toilet in the evening and was only having very minor streaking. Around 2 months ago she stopped using the toilet every evening despite sometimes a full hour of sitting there reading books and trying to convince her to push. I took her back to the doctor after 3 or 4 days of her not going, and the gp said she couldn't feel any constipation there. By this point she was soiling in larger amounts and not eating much which would usually indicate that she was constipated but apparently not. She said to try to clear her up again by doing the disimpaction but this didn't work and just made her soul more frequently. We put her back on 2 a day in the evening and she is going to toilet in the evening with me sat with her and also eating better, doesnt feel constipated etc but she's soiling, a large amount, at least once a day. Not usually whilst shes in school, she will come home and then randomly soil.
I dont think she can feel when she needs a poo. If I sit her on the toilet she will moan that she doesnt need one, then look genuinely shocked when she goes. I'm going to start putting her on the toilet as soon as she comes home from school to see if that helps but I just wondered if anybody else has had similar experiences, if theres anything that can be done to check her bum muscles or if we just have to wait it out.
Sorry for the long post!
