2x failed disimpactions now doing enemas and suppositories

So after doing 2 disimpaction treatments in the last month, and no change, we had an x-ray done on Monday. Got the results today and found he is still sooooo blocked up in his colon and rectum. So devastating! So now doing another disimpaction with movicol, have enema today and a suppository and tonight finally saw some hard droppings from the big masses coming out!!! Hopefully this is the start of finally clearing him out poor little man. Such a tough thing for a kid to go through. It’s so not fair.

Hi Mandy, sorry to hear that your son has been through all that. I’m writing as my son seems in a similar position. We did two back to back disimpactions over Christmas break which were really tough for both my son and me. He is now doing a good quality poo every day and not getting pain. He also seems to recognise more when he needs to go. The problem is he is still soiling. Is that what happened to your son? Did you have to fight for the X-ray? I don’t know what to do?

After the 2 disimpactions he was still soiling constantly. Which is what led me to the x-Ray. I ended up taking him to my gp and she ordered the x-ray. Our continence specialist was useless. She had us on osmolax for 2.5 years and we’re were getting nowhere. I kept asking if there was something else we could do and she just said increase his dose. She never even suggest dulcolax. The helpline did! If your not getting the help from where your going, go somewhere else! I’m not saying it’s worked this time (disimpaction) but I’ll know more next Wednesday but at least now we’re trying other things and there’s definitely so much more poo coming out. I think you just have to push for more and demand help. Good luck!
