Hi all I'm new to here but hoping to meet parents in a similar situation to myself. My little girl is 4 and started school recently. She has always had the problem of soiling. It can be a few times a day, very soft loose and even like diareah sometimes. The times when she does make it to the toilet is when she has a normal bowel movement but this is rare. We have done sticker charts an rewards, we cut out certain foods and done dairy free but no change. She has had blood tests and all fine. I find it strange that she goes wee fine in toilet and doesn't have accidents at night. Now at school and affecting her with me having to go in and clear her up and other kids being mean. She says she doesn't know and not her fault. Makes me sad that I don't know how to help her. Doctor is saying she is too young to have bowel investigated and just saying weak bowel or behavioural. Any advice Will be welcome please

Hi there, following with interest and sending a hug as we are in a similar position... I’m just home from having to go and clean up my little boy at school.... feeling at a loss and alone so I’m glad I’ve found this forum!
Hi Sam, we’re going through a similar thing, but we’re a year on now. Our daughter soiled herself all through reception and still doing it in year 1. We felt at our wits end this time last year—some teaching staff fantastic, some awful! The after school club thought that public humiliation would snap her out of it. The GP said there was nothing wrong with her and she would grow out of it. The turning point for us was around Easter time when we rang the Eric helpline—if you haven’t done this yet, I highly recommend it. Since then, we’ve been on a slow path to recovery, but it’ll take time, perhaps another year. Getting the school on board has been crucial, so too has regular contact with Eric. We also pushed for a referral from our GP to a paediatric continence specialist, but waiting lists are long and resources scarce. We would love to hear how you’re getting on—talking seems to be the best therapy for us
Hi have you done a disimpaction? If she’s having accidents she probably doesn’t have feeling due to being impacted. My daughter was exactly the same until we cleared her out with high dose laxatives (advised by consultant) and although not completely sorted she’s much better. You need referral to paediatric continence clinic and regular appointments so they can check progress and make sure she’s not getting blocked up again.
