Bed wetting alarms

Hi, I used a bed wetting alarm for my almost 6 year old daughter for the first time last night. It went off at 11pm and 2am, I know the research supported on Eric suggests not to wake child to try them for a wee but I can't help but wonder if I had of done that at say 10.30pm it would have saved her half the trauma by not being startled by the alarm or is lifting really just counterproductive. Any thoughts gratefully received

We are going through the alarm at the moment, my daughter is older at 9. We were advised not to lift, but like you I did when we went to bed at 11pm ourselves. We have been on the alarm for 7 weeks now. I have stopped lifting at 11pm as I found the alarm will still going off, like an hour and a half after lifting! We are down to one alarm at night with no lifting, our main issue is trying to stop drink/liquid at 6pm and then sleep at 8pm. When she has her last drink makes a difference to how many times the alarm goes off. You are doing well if the alarm only went of twice, when we started it was 5 times!!

Thank you, it's good to hear from someone in the same boat. I will try to avoid lifting. Last night the alarm didn't go off all, I lay awake most of the night waiting for it, thinking surely she's not dry! True enough she wasn't dry at all, quite the opposite in fact but the sensor had become detached 🤦‍♀️🙄

I am 11 and I STILL wet the bed, If you keep persisting at non-lifting the the person eventually gets in the rhythm of things, like I did but then mine broke one night and didn'the stop riding until 12.00pm and I had to replace it, witchaikovsky took my progress down about 50%

We started the night time alarm with my 7 1/2 yr old who had never been dry and often needing the bedding changing 4/5 times a night.

We didn’t lift or wake him when he went to bed, mainly as he’s such a deep sleeper anyway and for the first 2-3 weeks is was a nightmare. The alarm would go off at least 6 times a night, but I’m glad to say after that we have had complete dry nights since.

We now have started the alarm with my 6yr old as she’s exactly the same. We have also had mornings where it didn’t go off, but she’s been wet. Due to the sensor moving or her taking it off. So even though the first few weeks are horrendous, as the alarm startles her the first time, but I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. X
