She's been on & off the toilet all day but not passed anything, has had some soiling.
She's in a warm bath at the moment, had a dose of calpol. She's on Laxido and is due a sachet before bedtime. (We're still trying to get the dose right!)
Any ideas how else we can help with the pain?

I keep looking at you're post and really feeling for you all but not sure what to advise. Hop the poor little soul is not still in pain. We have not used laxido only movicol ,dulcolax and senokot. Certainly sounds like she needs an increase in medication, even a disimpaction using movicol. Otherwise can only suggest bucket loads of fluids, Vaseline for her bottom and a hot water bottle for her tummy. Also make the drinks warm. Good luck X
She did settle eventually. She had warm bath, hot water bottle. I've been giving her lots of drinks and added a dose of lactulose to her usual medication.
It was one of those days where I felt helpless. No matter what we tried she was in discomfort. We'd just seemed to be getting on th right track we'd had a few weeks of her, going to the toilet, no accidents etc and now back to square one.
We've had endless trips to the loo today & the usual sitting time, not much movement though. Hopefully with increase in powders things will be moving again soon.
Bless you so know how you feel we've been coping with this for six years, our daughter was nine today. Just wish I had a magic wand for you and for us and everyone else. Things work and then for no apparent reason it all goes pear shaped again. She has suffered a lot of UTIs over the last year and I've just got to the stage to be grateful when she doesn't have one of those!!. If you come up with a miracle please let me know. Take care and Godbless you both xx
Second vote here for the hot water bottle for pain. Though it does not solve the problem it apparently manages it because the receptors can only handle one signal, heat or pain, so at least giving heat disguises it for her brain.
For our boy with chronic issues, the only solution has been high doses of PEG-3350 (1.5 grams per kg), lots of water (at least 4-6 cups per day), complete diet change (no processed foods, all high fibre, lots of veggies), plus a daily enema regime, as well as occasional pico-salax sessions. First enema was oil retention to moisten the rock-solid mess, following days a sodium-phosphate enema. The PEG-3350 alone at 1gram per kg was not nearly adequate to resolve our issues.
After 4 days of the enemas as detailed above, his tummy pain has dissipated, something which 12 months on PEG-3350 and Picosalax did nothing for. The enema protocol is something I happened across in reading bedwettingaccidents.com and it just happened that the pediatrician we were referred to here did his training in the 1980s at the hospital where MOP was developed. Pure luck that we got him and he is still practicing!! Other wise other nurses and normal pediatrician look at me sideways when I inquired about the MOP enema protocol. Basically he said as long as the enemas produce brown poop and you only give one a day, then you are okay. If the enemas give nothing but clear liquid, then titrate them because that is when you risk getting electrolyte imbalances.
