Hi. My son is 5 and a half and the Paediatrician told us to give it to him at night. He said it will then work overnight. My son has been on it for over a year.

That's amazing. Long may it continue.

It's definitely helped my son out along with a daily plan we had from the Play Therapist after a visit to hospital back in February. Even though he has sensation of needing the toilet now our GP doesn't want him to come off Senakot for quite a while.

Well was only yest so may or may not happen again . Time will tellbut praying it helps him as he has been this way for yrs since being mauled by a dog 😭😭

My daughter used to have it in the evening and she generally always pooed after school or after dinner. Senokot was the best thing that helped her get over her soiling issues after 3 years on movicol.

Taking it at night also helps with the abdominal cramps that it can also cause

Trying to find out when the child is "actually meant " to take it.

I don't think there is a right or wrong but my daughter was prescribed it by a consultant and he said to take in the evening. Worked well for her x

We have given every day in the morn. He also gets 1 movicol morn and night.

He has pooed a few times now and made it 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

We are elated for him as thats the first time since sep / oct 14 that he has felt it come to go !!as he perfect before then.

That's really great news! I totally understand the elated feeling, I think the senakot really helps them get to feel the urge, movicol doesn't really help in that respect. It took my daughter about 7 months of being in senokot and then I gradually got her on lower and lower doses of movicol and now she is on no laxatives st all and has been pooing well since Feb with no soiling in between at all. It's changed our lives....good luck x

Yes in just 5 days it has changed our lives !!

We feel he should have been given it sooner than 2 and a half years though !! 😠😠. But we are hoping to god this will continue for his sake as he is 7 in 4 weeks.

My daughter is 7 in 4 weeks too...!! Age has definitely helped too and she was on movicol for 3 years before being given senokot after getting a referral to a paediatrician. It's very positive for you.

We went to paeds and they said up fluid intake !!

Our son was fine and then was attacked by a dog and dragged in front of a car and after that anxiety kicked in and gave him toilet probs 😭😭.

The law sucks too as dog not even destroyed !

Shocking really

I was told at night for my 3 year old, but I found it was waking her up early due to the urge to go, so I switched it to morning and now she gets the urge just after dinner.

I really don't think there's a right or wrong way, it just depends on how long it takes to take effect. If you can do it at night without having it disturbing sleep, then great. If not, try in the morning before breakfast.
