Used Nappies after fully potty trained..

Hey, I'm new here

We recently went away on holiday (we had a lovely time) apart from our 8 year old DD coming down with a bad tummy. She started with it the night before our return flight home.

The following morning she was still bad and I knew we needed to find a solution as she is scared stiff of aeroplane and train (chemical type toilets). We usually get on ok with this fear, but I knew she would need to use the loo whilst we were in the sky.

I therefore suggested that she should wear a pull up for the plane journey, she was not best pleased about this at first, but came round to the idea after I explained that it would keep her clothes from getting spoiled etc. In a way I'm glad I did this because she ended up having an accident as we were landing, I think it made her tummy bad.

I felt really bad for her and I can't help feeling like I somehow let her down buy not finding another way, but I honestly could not think of a better option.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation where you have had to put a potty trained child in a nappy?

Hi Gemma, in my opinion I see no problem with using a pull up in this situation. It sounds to me like a very sensible option when you had no choice but to get on an aeroplane with your daughter in this situation.

I feel in no way that you let her down, the opposite in fact. You helped saved her the embarrassment of messed clothing in a public and confined space.

I hope she feels better now x

Thank you for your reassurance :) I still feel guilty though, I don't know why, I suppose it's because it was embarrassing for her and almost like I was forcing regression on her. If you've ever had to do this, you know what I mean. :S but I suppose the other option would not have been the best either. :S
