Vacuum pump newbie

Hi all,Have suffered from errectile dysfunction for years due to blood pressure problems but, having had a double heart bypass and angioplasty in last few years, it's gotten worse. Used to be cialis was OK but no its not really working so have been prescribed a vacuum pump to use. Have just started using it but am finding it rather painful at the base of my penis where the tube rests and its also not really giving me a full, solid erection.

If anyone here uses a pump I would really appreciate any hints and tips and a realistic idea of what sorts of results I can expect from using a pump.

The Cialis and all of the medications were worthless. I used a pump for years, but only for penile rehabilitation. It didn't really work for me. I went with the urethral suppositories (Muse) and it was mostly painful half-erectins. I didn't do injections and went straight to a penile implant which for me is incredible.

Hope you didn't pay much for the pump -- they're all the same. Are you applying a constriction ban ("cock ring") after pumping up? It's necessarly. I can do fairly well with a ring (and no pump) after taking sildenafil (generic for Viagra). Needless to say, you need adequate sexual stimulation to "keep it up" that is, you need to have your emotions primed. It may be possible to get the same (semi?) erection without a pump, just masturbation and plenty of stimulation and encouragement from your partner. Having to deal with the paraphenalia of a pump is not particularly conducive to having a sexy-romantic mood. What about fellatio followed by a cock ring?

Hi, thanks for the useful feedback. I got my pump on prescription due to having cardiac issues but so far have only used it as a gym. Have to admit though I can't see how I can incorporate it into anything romantic for the reasons you have stated.

Hi I had my RP some five years ago and have tried several remedies for ED but found the pump to be most beneficial. Trimex injections also work but found an ever increasing amount to realize a firm erection which worried me as to the extended time period before the erection receded. I have found the Vacurect pump to be the best for getting and keeping an erection. Other drugs such as Cilias or Viagra did not work. Hope this helps

I used a pump after surgery for rehab, and it worked pretty well. It didn't increase length, but it did increase girth. And I would use a cock ring to have sex. I got a good erection with the pump and ring, but it was blue and cool -- sort of like a Franken-hardon. There was nothing sexual about pumping for rehab; I would do it whilst playing solitaire on a tablet. Finally, the ED worsened until I'm limp now -- but still orgasmic. And at 74, it is what it is.

Thanks for the info Michael, sound like I am in a very similar position to you but I'm 49. Having cardiac artory disease has done some real damage sadly.

I can empathize - I have the inverse problem, to an extent. For me: 19 months post-RP, some signs of erections coming back; a week ago I had a full-blown nocturnal erection (just one, unfortunately) that was every bit as equal to pre-RP. But whenever I try to *use* this newly returning functionality with my wife, the loss of sensation in the "orgasm-trigger" nerves in the head of the penis makes orgasm impossible. And I'm beginning to think that that sensation is not coming back. So as you said, I guess it is what it is.

At least my wife can enjoy it 😉

I tried several pumps,nothing but problems so I decided on an implant,best decision of my life!! Important to research and go with one of the best implant doctors in the country. I've seen guys that have had implants and have had all kinds of issues and it always goes back to an inexperienced surgeon. There are urologists that are dedicated to doing only implants. I spent two years researching and will gladly share my experience and the info that I gathered over time.
