3 years without a natural erection since prostate removal. Viagra and Cialis have zero effect. Trimix or a vacuum pump are my only solutions . Both have their limitations . Any new solutions ?

Steve,

The usual next step is a penile implant, however before you go for that solution you might do well to see a doctor who specializes in sexual function. Your "average" urologist has the basic tools but there are specialists who look at all aspects of the problem and often find underlying causes which the generalists don't. Apparently these specialists are fairly rare, but some of the larger hospitals and clinics have them. I have attended seminars where I have been impressed by their thoroughness as the specialists at Yale and Lahey Clinic have outlined their methods. Unless you are near a major PCa center of excellence you'll probably have to travel, and probably need a referral.

there is I need doctor in Palm Springs installing the new version of the penal implant. Installing the penal implant will shorten your penis by about an inch. They have to take out all of the erectile tissue. I wonder if this new version would not require having to take out the erectile tissue that there. the whole idea of the whole idea of having but yet another operation not please me or something I would want to entertain

Since my prostate removal I've already experienced a 1" shorter penis ( soft and hard), which i still dislike. I can assume the implant, (like the pump and injections), has drawbacks-cons associated with its performance. So that, plus loosing another inch of length and removing a lot of tissue inside the penis, is enough at this point to keep me on the no thanks list.

I appreciate your comments though.

I had a radical prostatectomy at the end of April, 2016. But I had a great surgeon and he was able to spare the nerves. Six months later I am taking Cialis daily and using a vacuum pump. I don't notice any loss of length. The pump is great and I enjoy it but it's rather inconvenient. I have no partner and I am being patient and hopeful. One problem is the very high cost of the Cialis.

I can relate. I've been buying cialis and Viagra for the last 3.5 years off and on with zero results. Just a lot of hopes and dreams that it'll make a difference. Also purchased my $500 vacuum pump as well back then. All out of pocket, despite the fact I've been on 2 national health plans. Neither of which cover any of these costs.

Which VED did you buy? Does it work any better than the $50 type?

Although I do not have one, As a PC group facilitator, I have spoken to others who have had penile Implants with satisfactory results. Good luck.

I have a penile implant and I'm very happy with it. Sex is back to normal - actually superior.

The next step would be Alprostadil injections in the penis. You'all trial different doses and the one that gives you an erection for an hour will be the correct dose. Your urologist will teach you how to do this. This works for men who have failed other therapies. Implants are truly a last resort.

Not what you're looking for?
