My bleeding carried on for 15 months, very light bleeding and just heavy when on actual period, I've just had mine removed, I'm not sure about the back pain as I had back pain before anyway xx

It does take a few months for the mirena to get coated in uterus lining so that it stays put and doesn't fall out and the that lining builds up thick enough to stop you having periods. Mine took 5 months then nothing but the occasional spot of blood for well over a year, then recently just had a much more normal period. and I'm waiting now to see if it ran out too soon. Certainly have a feeling period no.2 is on it's way but I hope it's no more than spotting again.

The initial bleed will be your body soming to terms with the change in the balance of the hormones inside you. it shoul dease off and you should have normal periods for a while tailing off to them stopping if all goes to plan. And what a difference that makes to you life when that happens.

Stick with it, even if you do get some side effects, when it does kick in it can be awesome.

Certainly worth the odd tweek twinge and spottings, compared to deep agonising period pains and gushing niagara falls periods.
