They are refusing to do a laproscopy on me until i lose about 5 stone. my bmi is currently 42 and just wondering if anyone has had a laproscopy being morbidly obese? They said they cant justify the risks.

Hey i dunno if this hels, but im a size 18, and there doing one on me? I have no idea what it is on the obease scale, but i have been told by the docs i needed to loose weight, i was a size 24, but got down to an 18, its hard work, but so worth it, i still have a long way to go, but the endo is stopping me from doing anything physically, but in the past 2 weeks ive lost a stone and a half due to no appetite, which is really un healthy, and ive now been put on complan shakes because i just cant eat! Good luck, and if you need any support feel free to message me xxxx

I am also at least 3 stone overweight-due to being disabled on crutches and wheelchair and not being able to exercise due to the agony of endo.I am awaiting a lap and have also been told I need to loose some weight, though they didn't say how much ! Oestrogen(which fuels endo) is also stored in fat cells,so it does make sense to have less fat.Easier said than done, when you have conditions that stop you exercising.I have no idea what my Bmi is but I used to be( pre Meninigitis and ME) 8 and half stone and am now 12and have a lot of weight around tummy.

The more you weigh the more the risks re with anaesthetics etc and also the more layers that need to heal,so I understand their warnings.

I am trying to cut down my portion sizes and have also cut out sugar, wheat, dairy ,caffeine as part of the endo diet.So far not noticed any difference as I suspect my Depo, jab has something to do with it,but will just have to try and cut down the amount I eat.In the end it is sadly a matter of calories in v calories used as if we are unable to exercise we have to cut down.I am mostly in house,on crutches,so am not ableto exercise much.Would if I could as used to be super fit and probably underweight!
