No, as the coil is inside the uterus and the endo is outside of the uterus.

If you have adenomysosis which is in the walls of the uterus, then there are very rare occasions when a coil can perforate the walls of the uterus and possibly make contact with the adeno.

the coil shape prevents it from going up the fallopian tubes, which is sometimes where endo can be found.

If you suspect that the mirena has poked a hole in the uterus, the visit your GP who will refer you to hospital for a scan to check if it is infact still where it should be, or if it has moved.

It would be extremely unlikely to perforate, if you consider that the walls of the uterus are designed to stretch big enough for triplets, a teeny T shaped bendy bit of plastic is hardly likely to burst through the uterus.

The coil does form a coating around it of uterus lining which it uses to stay in place and block up the uterus, so in a way it is embedded, but that is in proper uterus lining cells..where they are meant to be. Not endo. It's like you have grown the lining of the uterus ready to be shed when you have a period, only it doesn't shed away, it stays put with perhaps some slight spotting.

So glad someone has asked this. Am booked in to have the coil fitted on march 19th and really, really don't like the idea of them one bit ! Having one out of desperation I suppose. I've read as much good as bad about them and am just hoping I fall in the positive outcome category !
