is there a way that I can find out exactly what techniques the consultant used in my last op - can I contact him directly or do I need to speak to my dr first?

So, you mean you dont know if you had laser or excision?
If this is the case, I'm surprised they didnt tell you before lap what they are going to do and after lap, what they did.
Anyway, I would suggest you try to the consultant first and only if you cant reach him, to go to your doctor x
when you say it like that it sounds really bad. I saw him for my follow up a week before Christmas and whilst I know "a lot more extensive work" was done that is all because I got side tracked on how I was recovering, the slowness of it and medication and looking forward. It was only afterwards that I realised I hadn't addressed the issue and had wondered if I had left it too late. I have today telephoned his secretary and left a message asking her to ring me back.
Send your surgeon an email, or through the gynae department. Give them your name, NI number and the date of the surgery etc. The quicker you do this the better, while it's still fresh in the surgeons memory banks. you could also ask your GP what information was sent through to them from the hospital.
