I have had a total abdominal hysterectomy last yr but the surgeon left me with 1 Ovary which he felt was salvageable to save me going through the change as I was only 29 yrs old at the time. The surgeon found stage 4 endo I was in theater for 6 hours
12 month on, im worse off. Under 3 specialists in Manchester & due to surgery being too dangerous now have only 1 option (or so the doctors say) To try prostap for 3 yrs.
I am for some strange reason frightened to death of this injection.
Can anyone enlighten me with "THE TRUTH" about this drug and how it helps (if at all) and any side effects you have had. THANKYOU xx

Prostap for me completely changed my life for the better. Have stage 3-4 endo, mostly found in my right ovary when had endometrioma drained (born with only one ovary). There are some side effects: Hot flushes, dryness downstairs, loss of libido. But shrank my endo enough to make my ovary strong enough to be able to conceive, so it is a very good drug in my opinion. It is supposed to stop oestrogen and testosterone in the body so I wan pain free and period free then I was on it for 4 months. I would give it a try x
For me, the benefits of prostap didn't outweigh the side effects that came with it - but I do know it can be different for every woman! For me, I still had pain (although it was reduced) but the prostap had a huge impact on my body and mind. Physically, my body shape changed drastically, I developed awful acne on my face and body (which has left scars) and after each injection I would get a swelling on my stomach (at the injection site) about the size of my fist which was incredibly painful. Mentally, my mood swings were terrible and I just didn't feel my self. As I said, the offset in the pain wasn't great enough for it to be worth it for me.
For me it was brilliant, if I could have it for life I would. My pain went from agony to minimal, and the side effects were so much better than the terrible pain - though I was on tibilone for add back. I only went on it when I didn't feel I had any other choice and would do it again in a heartbeat x
Prostap has taken my endo pain away but I have backache and hip pain. Could this be due to Prostap? Just about to start Tibolone and am in my 4th month of Prostap.
