Hi, does anyone have any experience of IVF with endo? I've just completed an unsuccessful cycle and am realising how much endo can affect the treatment. If anyone has any tips or advice of things to try or ques to ask my consultant would really appreciate it.
Hi, I went through 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles last year, and I had asked doctors before I started if endo would have any affect on the success of IVF, and of course they say no.
But I think the inflammation associated with endo can have some affect. The one thing I did to give myself some peace of mind before I went ahead with the second ivf was to get some blood tests done to check immunity, and inflammation markers in the blood. If these results show any problems, you can then do something to help improve your immunity and try to reduce inflammation before going ahead with another cycle. I know it is hard to wait between doing ivf cycles, but it is also devastating to get the negative result. So it helps to know if your body is in reasonable health before going ahead again. I hope this can be useful for you, and good luck with your next cycle,
Hi hon. I have been going through ivf for years and have endo. I last had lazer surgery in 2009 and the been going through ivf since with no joy unfortunately I have just had another laproscopy in june which show that I had groth of end worse than last op. My consultant thinks my ivf has been triggering the growth. I'm not sure but I know others who fell preg with endo and ivf
I was just wondering how u got on with uour ivf as this post was 3 years ago. I have had 4 surgery with endo in the last 3 years 2 open surgery and since june 2014 have got another endo in my left ovary 4-6cm. Right ovary half gone. I am on my 3rd day of menapour injections with ivf. First time trying. I am also hopefully going to freeze our embryos i was just wondering how u were getting on and would love to hear your story. Also if u did 2 implentations or one?.
I underwent 4 years of fertility tests, eventually discovered I had endo. Went on to have ICSI and fell pregnant first cycle. Prior to my son I had no pain with endo, since having him the endo is causing pain, bowel and period issues and and I'm currently waiting a lap. We did have another cycle of ICSI 2 years ago and it didn't work, not sure if this means anything in answer to your question but can only advise you on my personal experience.
Speaking to my consultant it is more to do with the lining of the womb and the cramping from other endo cells in the body, IVF helps with the initial conception which doesn't tend to be the problem it is more the egg then implanting into the lining of the womb that causes the problem.
This may explain why IVF isnt the miracle cure with endo.
I really do hope your next cycle is successful and things start looking up, I have this all to come.
Heather x
Hi just sharing my experience in case it helps. I have severe endo. Our first Ivf cycle failed but for our second and third I had laser treatments 3 months prior followed by monthly hormone injection for three months (can't remember name but the one they give you as part of if to stop periods and regulate cycle). Both these cycles worked. My consultant strongly recommended the laser surgery just prior to ivf.
