Robotic hysterectomy

Has anyone had a robotic hysterectomy (Da Vinci)? It's for stage 4 endometriosis and they need to separate my organs and remove cervix (full of fibroids), ovaries with endometrioma and free my small bowel and rectum which has been pulled high through the lesions. Just wanting to find out everyone's experience. I've decided to go private with my consultant at James Cook hospital and I'm suddenly terrified because the zoladex has finally started working so I feel good. When it stops working I hemorrhage constantly and I've been told that I'll probably always bleed if I take HRT. I'm just having a wobble. I went on Google to look at the robot - bad move! Anyone with any success stories please put my mind at rest. Xxx

I’m having a Da Vinci robotic hysterectomy for severe Endo in a couple of weeks time. It includes removal from my rectal area, abdominal wall, bladder and diaphragm. It’s NHS, I’ve been waiting for 18 months.

You will bleed now if you take HRT but you won’t post-hysterectomy as there’s nothing to bleed from. If you’re feeling good on Zoladex then you’re likely to feel good after the surgery. I haven’t had Zoladex but I’ve been in natural perimenopause for the last few years and hated it!

The robot looks a bit daunting but if anything it makes the surgery less invasive. My daughter has had 4 open heart surgeries so I have to admit this has altered my perspective on major surgeries.

Jenny Powell I noticed recently had a robotic hysterectomy (with my surgeon incidentally) and her Instagram account is a good one to follow for reassurance. Xx

Haha yes we are all following Jenny Powell whose yoga moves this weekend really cheered me up! If that's 3 months post op I'll take it as without zoladex I look 6 months pregnant. The consultant said the same as you, that feeling good on zoladex was a significant barometer of feeling good post hysterectomy. I guess it's just hard going for a large operation when I feel well but once zoladex runs out (at 9 weeks) I'm back to square one. Also if I can take HRT post op then I'll be happy as I need it now but the bleeding is ridiculous x thanks for taking the time to respond and good luck with your operation- let me know how you get on x
