Ok. Semi rant, and asking for advice. I'm 59. Had my ovaries removed 2 years ago, long story short, I had a lot of pain, bloating etc and turns out I had an ovarian cyst. I'd gone private and surgeon said if I didn't need the ovaries, she could remove them, all good. When she went in, they discovered I was full of stage4 endo. She removed the ovaries and some of the endo and I was beautifully pain free for a month. I was still on HRT. Anyway, endo pain came back with avengence. They did a proper MRI as others hadnt shown it. It's all around my urinary tract which wakes me up every single night. I have severe pain on my right hip and through my back. I came off hrt, and in July she put a mirena coil in, after removing a polyp from my cervix. It was also discovered I have an atrophic dry vagina. In addition to this fun info I've put on loads of weight [in spite of doing a huge amount of walking, haven't lost a single pound, and I eat healthily], I have also had an increase in bloating which becomes so painful and knocks me for 6 after I finally get rid of the pain. Fed up with feeling like a fat sexless bloater! Can't even have a bloody glass of wine now as it triggers the endo which triggers the bloating. My question is, has anyone had a hysterectomy and been able to go back on oestrogen. I'm wondering if I can ever have sex again and stabilise my weight. Purely selfish maybe, but I feel I have lost a huge part of me. I have a hugely understanding supportive husband and he hates to see me feeling like this. I'd also love to have a full night's sleep, I'm exhausted in addition to all my joints feeling like they have been hit by hammers (like pre hrt days).

Fed up with side effects
OMG a fellow older lady with endo, im 58.
Below is my situation in a nutshall, ive copied and pasted from my bio:
I am 58
I’ve had three c sections, 1982, 1989 and 2006.
I had bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy 17 years ago
Also a couple of laparoscopies.
and then had a total hysterectomy 16 years ago, because I was told I had extremely bad pelvic inflammatory disease.
Also a gallbladder removal in between these surgeries.
now after years and years of problems, overactive bladder, and stress incontinence , painful bowels ( from which I also bleed a lot) , etc.
i had an appendectomy last oct where endometriosis was found on the appendix. I have since developed symptoms of thoracic endometriosis,.
Three weeks after this, so last nov, I had another op for a large post appendectomy umbilical abscess , where I developed sepsis, the abscess was drained and 2/3 of my umbilicus removed and also infected surrounding tissues
Somewhere along my journey, I ending up keeping a letter meant for my GP, so I opened it, and discovered that I was also had had ademioma , seen after the hysterectomy, which I had never been told about.
My gynaecologist has told me to stop hrt as she says it will feed the endometriosis in my pelvis and probably Bowels, I’ve just has a very very painful colonoscopy, where he said my bowels are stuck together.
No results yet.
Also awaiting an appointment for pelvic and abdomen MRI.
Not exactly like yours, but there are definatly similarities
Weight gain, bloating, terrible aches, extreme tiredness, nausea.
Im also totally fed up.
Hi. I completely understand. I'm 51 and very similar waking 3 to 4 times every night for a wee, putting weight on. I'm bleeding non stop too and on zoladex to stop it. They went in to do a hysterectomy for me and found everything stuck together with stage 4 endometriosis so they abandoned it then i had MRI privately which showed it was everywhere. . Now I'm just bloated and bleeding and full of fibroids. Gave up alcohol because the pain was awful. I can't cope with progestin (synthetic progesterone) so the coil is no good for me. They can't get it to sit in my cervix anyway. I'm on a small amount of estrogen and more progesterone and you may want to look at progesterone therapy and research estrogen dominance. I totally understand how you feel. Sending a hug x
