Hello. I wrote on here for advice about a month ago following a hospital admission due to severe right-sided abdominal pain and suspected appendicitis, which was then ruled out and a ultrasound scan revealed the following - ‘32 × 31 x 28 mm avascular homogenous lesion - appearances are suggestive of an endometrioma’ on my right ovary. My left ovary was not scanned. I was told quite a few different things about what this meant and was discharged with pain relief and told to book a repeat scan in 4 months. I struggled for another week or so with period-type cramps but this was more manageable than my previous pain, however I did see my GP to stress how unhappy I was with the plan and fears of it returning. I was scheduled a gynae appointment in October to discuss possible options (the notes said further scans, laporoscopy etc), but in the meantime I should try going on the pill. I’m really not happy with this option since I experienced postpartum psychosis after both of my children, and since have been reluctant to risk any hormonal contraception for the fear of relapsing. I’m now coming up to around ovulation in my cycle again and the pain is returning, it’s becoming unbearable again. I’m not really sure what I can do from here if I’m already awaiting gynae appointment? We did consider going private but looking at the possible costs it’s not really a feasible option. I’ve been told to take over the counter pain relief and use a heat pad, but I’m struggling. Has anyone got any advice please?

Pain around ovulation again & management options
Hi
Sorry it’s so bad. Go back to GP for urgent appointment and tell them you need better pain relief, if it’s really bad you might need to go back and get a scan to make sure the ovary hasn’t burst. The pain can be ridiculously high and I’m still not sure why it’s so difficult to get pain relief.
There’s various medication the GP can give you, Tramadol (a pain nurse said this was beater than codeine for Endo), codeine, Naproxen, Oramorph, Nefopam (non opiate), make sure the receptionist understands it’s urgent and you won’t take no for an answer, they can’t actually refuse as they can’t make medical decisions. Fill in the econsult tonight if you can as well, or call tonight, even if it’s 111. I know how bad the pain can get. If you phone have phone on speaker with someone next to you and make sure the other person is aware that you have someone with you. It’s far too hard to get help. 🤞 keep calm with speaking to dr surgery it works better, I’ve tried various ways in the past 🤣🤦♀️
Thank you, I will try that. I will see how I go in the night but ring the go first thing.
Another stage symptom - both times I have had bowel issues, like watery, mucussy stool. Is this normal? It must be related as it only happened during these periods of pain. When I was in hospital I had a suppository diclofenac for the pain, and they just told me it was a side affect of that and didn’t give it me again. But it’s returned.
