Hi everyone! I had a laproscopy just over 4 weeks ago and got an endo diagnosis. I got the written report from my surgeon on Friday with recommendations for changes to the meds I'm on. I took it to my GP who read it and said she "didn't understand it." Now, I'm not sure if my surgeon's suggestions are really that out there, or if my GP doesn't have a good knowledge of endo treatments (I wouldn't be surprised by this, they have not been great through the entire process).
I was given a couple of options - take norethisterone alongside the current pill (yasmin) I'm on, stop yasmin and go on a progesterone only pill, or just take norethisterone. I was rather thrown by my GP - I didn't know how much to push back. Are these medicines anyone here has been advised to take? Thanks!

Yeah, they are definitely a GP. They're my practice's women's health specialist but she has not been great throughout the whole thing. And they are at least contacting the surgeon to ask for more information/explanation!
I'm a GP and all three of those options we are able to prescribe. I'm sorry your GP didn't seem helpful, I would try and see a different doctor and push for treatment.
I am on an endo specific prog only pill (dienogest) which does not act as birth control so I wonder if your combo is to give you prog and birth control. Just a guess?
Also, slightly digressive comment but: I spent most of my 20s and 30s on Yasmin but I was abruptly taken off it a decade ago as GPs were told to prescribe an alt - studies showed it increased certain risks. Assuming they have changed the makeup of Yasmin since then or it would still be off the prescription list
This is partly where the confusion comes from - the surgeon seemed to think I'm on yasmin for contraceptive reasons. I'm not. The only reason I'm on it is to try and control the endo pain (which to be clear, it hasn't!)
