Tips for quicker appointments

Hi All! I recently underwent surgery for endometriosis in my lung/diaphragm and have been recovering these past few weeks - they removed several sections. I have yet to get a pelvic diagnosis or hormone treatment from gynecology because they keep pushing my appointments back. My Thoracic specialist advised me I will get regrowth and my lung will start collapsing again if I don't get hormone treatment sorted for the endometriosis but after my appointment was moved for the 3rd time, it's now booked for October. I've been calling the hospital but they don't seem to understand or care.

Has anyone had any luck in bringing appointments forward? Or the best way to go about getting help sooner? I'm so worried this painful surgery will be for nothing if I don't get the appointment soon.

Thanks so much in advance 🙏🏼

Hi, I’m currently waiting for first surgery and hormone treatment from a BSGE specialist, but as an interim measure my GP has advised taking hormonal contraceptive purely to stop ovulation/my periods. Your GP should be able to offer something whilst you wait x

I've been on microgynon since childhood and time I asked to switch off of it they told me only Gynecology could review and do that, so fingers crossed they let me 🤞🏼thank you, will give them a call on Monday and see what they can do 😊 x

Hi, If you haven't done already then tell them you can accept any cancellation slots that become available and ask for a note to be put on your record. Also might be worth contacting PALS (if your under NHS) expressing your concerns and disappointment. I hope they can bring it forward for you! x

Oh I've never heard of PALS, just googled it, thank you! Will try all of the above x

I would contact the thoracic surgeons secretary to ask if the surgeon can put in a word about how urgent it is, the last thing they’ll want to do is more surgery if it can be avoided. Your GP can also request a more urgent appointment, but they’ll probably take more notice of consultant.

Check on cancellations but often that can mean calling regularly but they do happen.

If you can afford it you could go private, but see a consultant who also does NHS as often they can add you to their list.

Hope you get sorted soon 🤞

Ooo I actually have my follow up call with the surgical team on Tuesday, I'll bring it up and see if they can assist too! Thank you x
