Hi all, I’m 29 and had a laparoscopy last July, where they found endo in my womb, ovaries, rectum, pouch of Douglas and somewhere else I am forgetting! After the surgery, they suggested I went on contraception to stop it growing back - since my mum has had breast cancer twice, my options are quite limited, and every time I’ve been on hormonal medicine in the past I’ve reacted quite badly, so I decided to wait. Since the surgery, I have moved abroad to Portugal. In May, I went to a gynaecologist after my pain was coming back - he said that the likelihood is the endo is starting to grow back already, which is pretty devastating.
They prescribed me with Zafril, which he said isn’t available in the UK. Has anyone ever been on this, and if so what are your thoughts? I took it for a week and was so anxious I came off it, but going to try it properly for a long period of time.
Thank you in advance!

Hi, I am not 100% but I think this might be the same as dienogest from having a Google, I take this and have found it helpful. I also take Noriday mini pill/progesterone only but unsure if this makes a difference as I’ve been taking it for years before I knew I had endo. My mum also had breast cancer twice and my aunty and nan but she tells me it’s not a genetic type, don’t know how she knows that but that was helpful info for informing my decision as well as my endo specialist sharing the actual percentage increase from the mini pill/progesterone only pill and it is very very small, plus it decreases other types of cancer like ovarian, yes less likely overall but still. It is a worry though and it’s hard to say if any of these meds impact me mentally as I’ve been taking them all for so long. I would say though to maybe consider giving something longer than a week if you can because I would’ve thought that could easily have been placebo if you were worried about it effecting your mental health.
