More potential POP problems...

Hi everyone,

I recently posted that I have been given the progestogen only pill for symptoms of endo (still not diagnosed). At first I got loads of random bleeding and lots of you lovely people gave me some really good advice. I kept taking the pill and have now been on it for a month. The bleeding has fortunately now stopped.

But now I have new symptoms and am wondering whether anyone here has experienced these with the progestogen pill. I've always had thin hair, but it's currently shedding a lot more than usual. I feel like it's going to start showing like I'm losing my hair soon. But more worryingly, I discovered a large lump in one of my breasts over the weekend. I was seen by a nurse yesterday and she is fairly confident it's not cancer but has referred me for a scan just to be sure and for peace of mind. She said lumps are more commonly a side effect of the oestrogen pill, but they can happen on the progestogen one too.

So, has anyone else had thinning hair or breast lumps on the POP? I know I'm meant to give in at least three months to settle down, and I probably will, but honestly, if it's going to give me random breast lumps that scare the sh*t out of me and cause this much stress, I'd rather go back to dealing with super painful periods once a month.

Hi there,

I understand how you feel, some years ago I had a breast lump on the pop, thankfully it was a fibroadenoma (and is still there but small) I was very worried too. I came off the pill for other reasons then a couple of years later I had another lump they was a cyst that needed draining!

I guess what I’m saying is I’ve had lumps both on and off the pop, so there are risks and benefits either way. If there’s a chance that the pop can slow down the growth of any endometriosis it might be worth doing. I haven’t noticed any hair loss I’m sorry to hear you’re struggling with that.

Best of luck with your scan xx

Thank you so much for relying! I'm sorry to hear you had a lump too but glad to hear it wasn't serious. I've got the scan today so I'm going to ask them how likely it is that this pill will cause another lump. I was really hesitant to go back on the pill anyway, so this just makes me want to stop it even more. I'm just swapping symptoms for side effects!
