Hey, so sorry to hear that. Was your surgery performed by general gynae or an endo specialist?
I only ask as I’ve had 2 laps, the first was with general gynae and they missed the endo and didn’t diagnose me as they weren’t specialised to look for it, however I kept pushing at my gp and gynae and fighting for investigations and answers, I was then referred to an endo specialised who diagnosed and excised stage 3 endo. So it definitely can depend on the surgeon who performs your laparoscopy.
My advice would be keep fighting for answers, question everything and don’t give up! You know your body best, good luck x
Thank you for replying 🤍I think it was a general gyno, I had a phone call with the gp today and he said it’s all in my head!
Should I keep going back to the gp so they refer me again? I know how my body feels and it’s been like this since 13/14 and I’ve seen many people who have had a first unsuccessful surgery that couldn’t find anything but the cysts could be hiding it.
I’ve bought a TENS machine for the meantime as he ‘didn’t want to throw painkillers at me’
Yes definitely! I gathered loads of information which stated general gynaecology can miss endometriosis, I kept pushing and pushing ringing constantly saying about the pain I was in etc. Then they referred me back to gynaecology, I said I wasn’t happy with the surgery etc, and asked for an MRI and then a referral to an endo specialist. When they refused requests I’d politely ask them to write on my medical record that they’d refused that investigation or referral and asked for a copy of it for my personal files, they generally didn’t like to do that to cover their own backs. The only other thing I could recommend is paying around £200 for a consultation with a private specialist, if that’s feasible and then taking it to your doctor and ask to be referred to an nhs specialist.
I hope that makes sense and I hope things get better for you xx
