Hi all, I'm currently in bed recovering from my 3rd laparoscopy (2nd one being in 2012). I found out my left ovary was stuck to my ureteral sacral ligament and side wall which they mobilised, and that I had nodular endometriosis on both uterosacral ligaments which was vaporised.
Hubby doesn't understand, as the letter from discharge states I should be back to normal within a week, so he seems to think I should be able to walk 4 miles by Wednesday.
I am peri menopausal and this seems to have made the pain worse. I have such bad pain in my left hip when on my period that I'm screaming in agony and can't walk. I'm scared that I'll have gone through the op, only for it not to have improved things.
I had the mirena coil fitted at the same time so fingers crossed that helps.
How did people find an endo specialist rather than just the gynae they send you to at the docs?

BSGE centres have endo specialists so are best placed to support people with severe endo and endo affecting the bowel (there is criteria I believe). You can find your closest centre by following the link below. Some are private but some take NHS patients. You can ask your GP to make the referral.
I'm currently under a non specialist gynaecologist but have my post-op followup this week so plan on asking for a referral to a specialist centre for ongoing management as I think that would be better for me.
I had my lap in March (that was my first surgery) and recovery for me was slow. I was on bed rest for 2 weeks before I did literally anything. I had 6 weeks signed off from work in total and needed a phased return back. I know experiences vary massively in terms of recovery but I think 1 week would be very optimistic. Do take the time you need, everyone is different and other conditions impact recovery too.
I also had dense adhesions removed to free my organs from being stuck down including ovaries. Had an endometrioma removed and coil inserted like you.
Try not to compare yourself. It's major surgery and the body will recover in its own time x
