Hi
What were your symptoms of endometriosis and how were you diagnosed?
Thank you 🤗
Sorry I’m advance for the graphic description: excruciating pain that stopped me from working for a couple of days a month, couldn’t leave the bathroom, blood clots, diarrhoea, projectile vomiting, heavy bleeding, a really heavy feeling like my insides were going to fall out of me and sharp pain like thousands of tiny clawed hands scratching away at my womb.
Mine started with excruciating pain - it feels like someone is trying to break my pelvis, to the point that I couldn't sit normally on a chair for a few days every month. And the usual - very heavy periods, blood cloths, constipation around periods and fatigue. I was diagnosed with a laparoscopy after more than a year of trying all the different medications that left me with long term side effects. I eventually refused to take any more pills and the gynae tried to scare me that the alternative to pills is a surgery. I was more than happy when she said that, as I wanted to have a diagnostic lap since the very beginning.
I had years of excruciating pain during the middle of my cycle then painful heavy periods with bowel problems and light headedness. I was backwards and forwards to my gp and kept being told that it was “just part of being a woman”
I was in so much pain one month that I ended up going to A&E and had my appendix removed. The surgeon then took photos of my insides and sent an urgent referral to gynaecology. 4 years later and lots of failed treatments, I am now on the year long waiting list for a hysterectomy.
I couldn't get pregnant so I had an ultrasound where they found a cyst. Had a laparoscopy a few months later, it was a blood cyst and the surgeon said there was probably endometriosis elsewhere. He was so unhelpful. I've had another laparoscopy since then because I still haven't fallen pregnant and I was diagnosed with moderate endometriosis and adenomyosis and I have a blocked fallopian tube. So yeah, my diagnosis was only because I'm over 35 and unable to get pregnant. No bad pain, no heavy periods.
I'm similar I don't seem to have really bad pain only cramping around ovulation and periods but back diarrhea round period and I get extreme bloating and tiredness but just keep getting told it's normal. But my tummy goes from normal to twice the size x
I have severe pain during sex (sorry for tmi🤣) and afterwards my tummy swells right up, no other symptoms though just that. Been going on for nearly 4 years now I've managed to go private with my work so finally getting it sorted privately, my GP has been useless kept on giving me tablets for IBS
For about 12 years ive had pain around ovulation, pain and unable to get off toilet for first 24 hours of a period, ibs type symptoms, frequent ovarian cysts and pain in lower stomach and side of pelvic. Back pain. Occasional pain and bleeding after intercourse. Fertility issues.
In Feb I had an ultrasound showing multiple large endometriomas on both sides on ovaries and on my tube and a high CA125 marker test. The past 6 months I bleed dark brown blood daily. Intense pain in my lower pelvic like sharp bursts all day long. Distended sore tummy. Nausea.
Had an MRI to see how deep it all is and currently waiting for endo specialist and surgery to remove the endometriomas due to the size.
I had really severe period cramps (took prescription painkillers for them), long heavy periods (up to 10 days), fatigue, light headedness, nausea, painfully bloated endo belly, bad IBS type symptoms during my period - bowel spasms, bowel cramps, stomach acid, diarrhoea. I also couldn't get pregnant. I was diagnosed finally after 8 years when I did a scan with a fertility clinic and they found several cysts on my ovaries, and it was confirmed through a laparoscopy. Since the lap my symptoms have really improved though.
