Help with results!

Hi everyone!

Hoping that I can get some advice here.

I was diagnosed 3 years ago with endo via laparoscopy. Most of the endo was found on my pouch of douglas and ureteral sacral ligaments. Unfortunately the operation wasn’t done by an endo specialist!

I recently got referred to an endo centre as symptoms are back and they sent me for an MRI at the beginning of March. However I ended up in urgent care 2 weeks before the MRI with a suspected bowel obstruction. My main endo issue has always been this feeling of everything getting stuck/trapped to the left of my belly button (I think in my descending colon) but it got so bad I felt my bowels had stopped completely. Urgent care did an xray that showed I was backed up but they couldn’t see an obstruction. They also sent me for an internal ultrasound and surprisingly the lady said it looked like I had either the start of fibroids or adenomyosis as my womb looked “gravelly”. Now this was a worry as I had always had a fine, healthy womb whenever I had ultrasounds in the past.

Anyway I finally got my MRI results last week and its all come back as absolutely fine and normal… my womb is fine and all the loops in my bowel are fine. Now I know endo doesnt always show up on an MRI, but if something showed up in an ultrasound how can it not show on an MRI? Which one do you trust?

I never had an MRI before my last lap so I wouldn’t know if it showed up or not. But I know my body and there is no way that it isn’t back on my pouch of douglas. During a period when I’m going to the toilet I am nearly passing out from the pain.

Trouble is because the MRI came back as clear, if I go for another lap, it’s looking like a 2 year waiting list!

Has anyone got any advice regarding ultrasound and MRI results?

Do you happen to know if a standard radiologist reviewed your MRI results? Mine was reviewed by the hospitals individual with a special interest to make sure they knew what to look for. It’s absolutely worth checking the right people have seen/reviewed your scan.

Previous to this I had 4/5 ultrasounds which were all ‘fine’. It really can be luck of the day depending on who’s scanning you/reporting on findings which is absolutely ridiculous because the requesting consultant should specify it, but from my experience most aren’t that thorough. I’d absolutely suggest asking the question. Best case, it wasn’t and you can get experienced eyes on it, worst case, you know and can request copies of everything to get a second opinion xx

Hello, my ultrasound and MRI were totally clear. However, I had (have) quite severe stage 4 endo with multiple organs fused together diagnosed by lap, so bad that the surgeon couldn't operate on my bowel and uterus adhesions as they were too badly fused together. The scans can are not always reliable unfortunately.
