MRI results…how long to wait?

Hi guys, hope you’re all okay. So I had my pelvic MRI scan on Monday, it was awful as I was in the scanner for an hour and 10mins 😥. I stayed strong and got through it though as I know it was important. Just wondered how long you’ve had to wait for results (with nhs). My letter said up to six weeks. To be honest I’m more scared of it not showing anything, I’m in so much pain on a daily basis and just want to know why 💛

Hi lovely, I had mine around 3 weeks ago now and I got the results about a week ago. I was told that I would hear in 3 weeks so maybe it depends on which hospital you’re with. The gynaecologist currently looking after me is very on the ball so this may be why. I’m really sorry you’re going through all of this and I hope you get your results soon as I know how awful it feels having to wait for the unknown. Xx

Aww thank you for your kind message, that’s good you didn’t have too long to wait. I’m lucky to have a good gynae consultant who has listened and been proactive (at last!) xx

Yes it was to check my bowels mostly due to worsening symptoms so hopefully not too long. Thanks for replying xx

Hello! I hope it shows something but be prepared for the scan to be clear. My MRI was clear and my transvaginal scan was clear but I have stage 4 endo with bowels, ovary and uterus fused together, diagnosed by lap. Do not let any gynos gaslight you into believing that just because the results are clear, it means you don't have endo. Best of luck xx

at my local hospital where I had it done on nhs last September 2023 I only had my results after requesting them last week. I think as others have said depend a what hospital and where you are.

If the radiologist is not specialized in endometriosis, he can tell you that you are healthy but in reality you have endometriosis. That's how I suffered. If you can ask for the images and you can send them for a second opinion wherever you want to a radiologist specialized in endometriosis. There is always much more endometriosis in the surgery than in the images.
