I had endo surgery in 2016 after 10 years of pushing for a diagnosis. I was found to have extensive scaring at the front (across section scar) and endo going into my bowel. I've had urinary symptoms for years, although they've never looked into this. I was told I had DIE.After surgery I fell pregnant and 8 months after delivery had the Mirena coil. I've never been pain free since but as I'm now 47yrs and hormones are fluctuating I'm struggling again. They've done an MRI and said I have thickening of vaginal- recto spectum and thickening of the utero-sacral ligament. They've said there are no deep pockets. They've said that they cannot operate on these areas but then said if I was in my 30's they may look at it differently??? I'm in discomfort/pain every day. I have significant lower back pain and coccyx pain which they didn't want to know about. I trialled HRT due to menopausal symptoms but it flared everything up and I was peeing blood. I'm just a bit lost as to what I should be pushing for. They mentioned putting me in the menopause via injections and adding in HRT ( when I asked).I don't know whether to ask for a second opinion. I've tried the mini pill alongside the coil but I was bloated, constipated and low !They've agreed to leave me as an open referral for 6 months but I want to gather info! I've read the NICE guidelines. Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you!

Are you being seen at a specialist centre(BSGE)? From the extent of your endo it seems like you should be.

Hi, since posting I researched centres for a second opinion. Then realised that the hospital I'm under came up as a specialist centre ( BSGE). I I've since contacted the medical secretary and found that I was seen by a fertility consultant and not an endo specialist. The can't understand why I was seen by the consultant I saw and I'm awaiting a second opinion with the specialist. Thank you for your response. On reading other posts it gave me permission to fight harder and to try to get this sorted. Apparently my first surgery was undertaken by the endo specialist.

That’s good you are getting a second opinion from an appropriate specialist. It is possible to have HRT tailored to avoid triggering endo symptoms again I believe. Wishing you luck xx
