I’m so sorry to hear this. After many rounds of IVF I do think it’s true that each one is a learning point so there will be things to work on for next time

While it is always good to try and address your diet and lifestyle to achieve best egg quality possible, I wouldn’t jump straight to that conclusion. Has your specialist said this is a problem? It may be a male factor issue (even with normal semen analysis, sperm dna fragmentation can be a problem). Make sure you chat to your embryologist and consultant and get some answers.

I found reading “It starts with the egg” helpful at the start of my journey.

Best of luck with your next round

Thank u for the reply. I haven't seen the consultant yet its a 10-12 week wait for review consultant but they never said there was an issue with diet or lifestyle I just automatically blamed myself that I did something wrong. I will defo ask lots of questions. Its a hard journey and sometimes dishearting.

Hi Sunflower, I am sorry to hear that you first cycle didn't work. I am just in the middle of my first IVF cycle. Went private for it because I was discounted from the NHS due to BMI.... though currently trying to get back on that list again. Starting stims next week. I have no idea what my egg quality will be like (I'm 36!) but I am hoping it will be ok. I made drastic changes to my diet in June last year, which helped my AMH to increase by 6 points. I am on an anti-inflammatory diet... soo no gluten, no dairy, no sugar, no caffeine and no alcohol, lots of vegetables and protein. I mainly went on it to try and reduce my endo sypmtoms. I am stage 4, though they don't like stating stages in NI! The diet has worked wonders in regards pain. I used to be crippled by it and now painfree. Hoping it has helped to reduce inflamation and improve our chances, but who knows! I certainly feel better. This kind of diet is reccomended in the book that Endofitall reccomends. I also have a copy of it. I am on a lot of the supplements suggested in that book as well. 7 eggs collected is a good number! I would not get discouraged by that. I am hoping to get similar but may not be able to because my ovaries are glued together (kissing) and the clinic claims they can only attempt access with one of them. Going by what other ladies on this platform say, each cycle is a learning experience. If I was you I would look into this kind of diet? Also definitely consider taking ubiquinol if you are not doing so already. It's supposed to help with egg quality. Good luck 🍀
