decapeptyl injection for endometriosis

Hi, i was told in feb after my first lap that they found nothing. However, i had a review with the top consultant on tuesday and he said they found small amounts of endometriosis and he has decided to give me the decapeptyl injection for 4 months. This is to stop my periods and put me in a “medical menopause”.

I am really nervous to have these injections as i don’t know if they will help or what the side effects will be. He wants to see if my symptoms will lessen when on these and if so then maybe do another lap to remove the small amounts of endo.

Has anyone else had these injections and if so what was their side effects and did it help?

Hello I had 8 months of decepeptyl, one every month, for a while it was okay, stopped my periods. Side effects were terrible for me, hot flushes all the time, sweating down my front and back, my mental health went into a very dark place which was unlike me, weight gain too. I am quite a happy/positive person, couldn’t cope any longer and I decided to come off of it.

Been off of it for 2 years now and my weight is slowly, going back down. The injections make you hungry too, but no matter what you do, I couldn’t loose any weight on them. I was put onto HRT too.

Of course the above is only my opinion and experience, I am sure it’s been great for some women.

X

I was on decapeptyl for 3 months after I had surgery. When I was on them it was the best I felt in years. I was also on tibolone as HRT the whole time so that probably helped with the side effects. I was finally able to exercise again and actually lost over 10kg whilst I was on them.

I stopped them as we are trying to conceive and a lot of my endo symptoms are now back unfortunately but if I had the option of going back on them I definitely would.

I guess everyone is different but hope that helps!

I have had a six month course of these. They helped significantly with my pain I had a slight bleed with the first one. But that was all. I did ache especially my gums/teeth and hormones were a bit up n down for the first month. Hope this helps.
