I had an ultrasound today but didn’t see consultant. Scan showed nodules on both ovaries. I was wondering what an ovarian module was exactly? I’ve had nodules before on bowel and bladder and thought these were larger growths of endometriosis. Are ovarian nodules the same? Are they growths of endometriosis on ovaries? Or are they similar to cysts like endometriomas? Does anyone know the clinical difference?

What is an ovarian nodule?
Strictly speaking a nodule is deep endo in the form of a fibrotic lump, which as you say would normally affect the bowel or bladder. Deep ovarian endo is in the form of endometriomas. But the term ‘nodule’ might have been used loosely to mean lesions which could be endometriomas or deep fibrotic lesions outside but stuck to the ovaries. There’s no way of knowing from this, I suggest you get a copy of the report through a subject access request.
Thanks Lindle - this was my thinking too. I have a copy of the report which read “ovarian endometriotic nodule” I have never come across the term ovarian endometriotic nodule and it isnt clear to me. My thoughts were maybe because they couldn’t differentiate between an endometrioma or a lesion so ovarian endometriotic nodule was written instead. I know my left ovarian is stuck to rectum from a previous MR scan
